Move all day. Get work done.
One desk height. Many postures.
You need a height-adjustable desk.
What else could you do with the money?
Four honest ways to spend it, rated on one thing: whether they get you moving without costing you focus.
Better ergonomic chair
$400–1,800- What it changes
- How one posture is supported
- Cost to concentration
- Low at first — discomfort builds over a long block
- Best choice when
- The work you do allows frequent breaks
Sit-stand desk
$300–800- What it changes
- Two postures, if you remember to switch
- Cost to concentration
- Each transition is a deliberate interruption
- Best choice when
- You only need sit or stand
Walking pad
$99–2,000+- What it changes
- Adds walking, replaces working
- Cost to concentration
- Immediately — typing and reading
- Best choice when
- You want steps or cardio.A walking pad beats Movably for that, plainly.
Movably Pro
$2,999+ $300–800 if you don't already have a height-adjustable desk- What it changes
- A position change every interval, on a prompt you can ignore
- Cost to concentration
- A few seconds — your hands never leave the keyboard
- Best choice when
- You need an hour of unbroken focus and can't sit still for it
Every option above makes one posture more bearable. None of them changes your position for you. That's the difference between support and movement — and it's why thirty years of better chairs hasn't solved this.
Every review we’ve had. Including the four-star.
Nothing here is selected to flatter. The full set is below, newest first, as it stands today.
“I've been using a standing desk for 14 years, but I always spent too much time either standing or sitting because I would get absorbed in my work and forget to adjust. I've only had this chair for a few days and have already noticed the difference in how often I switch positions effortlessly without losing focus.”
“I intentionally waited to write this review because I wanted it to reflect the production version that everyone can actually purchase—not just the prototype. I've been using the final production chair since May, and it has performed flawlessly.”
“I have been using this chair for few years now, starting with the prototype… It is worth its weight in gold and definitely worth investing in.”
“Works as expected. Waiting for apps to be available so I can adjust the sit stand warnings. The warnings trigger far too frequently and the inability to adjust it is very annoying initially.”
Before you decide
What if it doesn't work for me?
180 days to decide, with one condition: keep it at least 90 days and complete 1,000 moves first.
That condition is deliberate. A two-week trial tells you whether a chair is comfortable. It can't tell you whether anything changed, because what sitting still all day does to you accumulates over months. A thousand moves is a few weeks of ordinary use spread across your first three months — enough that moving has become part of how you work, rather than something you tried.
After that, any time up to day 180, send it back. You pay return shipping and we refund the rest.
Will it fit me?
The Movably Pro supports up to 275 lbs. (125 kg), and is sized for heights from 5'2" to 6'4".
Height accommodation primarily depends on inseam length, and Movably works for inseams from 26.5" to 36.5".
When does it arrive, and do I have to build it?
Movably is in stock. Orders usually ship within a day and are delivered in 3-7 days.
It arrives in one box with the tools for assembly. Once unpacked it usually takes about 5 minutes of assembly.
What does the app do — do I need it?
The app allows you to try different automatic movement patterns and intervals as well as review data on your movement goals. It is available for Windows and Mac and has no subscription.
The app is not required for chair operation.
Does it actually work?
Researchers at the University of Waterloo tested Movably Pro against ordinary sitting and ordinary standing. Sixteen people each did three separate two-hour sessions of real desk work — typing, data entry, reading comprehension — one session per setup.
Half of them turned out to be what the research calls pain developers: people who reliably get low back discomfort when they stand and work. In the Movably chair, every one of them stayed below the discomfort threshold for the full two hours. The authors say no previous study had shown that.
Their productivity didn't drop, despite changing position roughly thirty times in those two hours.
What it doesn't show: the participants were young, healthy university students, the sessions were two hours long, and it was a laboratory. Sixteen people is a small sample. The study tells you the mechanism works. It doesn't tell you what a year at your own desk looks like.
We commissioned and part-funded the work. The researchers agreed before any data was collected to publish whatever they found, positive or negative, and they hold no stake in the company.
What if something breaks?
Five years on the frame. Two years on the motors, electronics and moving parts, including labor.
Email support@movably.com and we'll diagnose it from a photo or a short video. If the seat-and-column assembly needs replacing, we ship you a complete new unit — nobody opens up electronics.
Coverage is for the original purchaser and doesn't transfer.
Can I pay with HSA or FSA?
Yes. Just choose the option to pay with Flex during checkout.
Who shouldn't buy this?
Movably may not be right for you today if:
- You don't have a height-adjustable desk. Movably moves you between sitting and standing, and there is no sitting-only mode at regular chair height. Without a desk that moves with you, it won't work.
- Your work comes in short pieces. If your day is built from calls, errands and tasks that break naturally, you're already getting up on your own. That's the goal — keep going.
- You're after exercise. This isn't cardio and it won't burn meaningful calories. It changes how your body is loaded across a working day. If you want activity at your desk, a walking pad is the honest answer.
- You're outside the US. We aren't set up to sell or support internationally yet.
And one thing that isn't about fit: Movably is not a medical device. If you have ongoing pain or discomfort, talk to your doctor. We're not a treatment, and we don't want to be the reason anyone puts off seeing one.
Six months to be sure.
